My Garden Tower went camping in the dark

IMG_0083

My GT2 went camping in the dark! The temperature in Vegas was in the 30’s for the past few days (I thought I went to Alaska!), and it was killing my fall garden. Well, I could not move it indoors, and the sun switched position at my back porch to the point I am literally not getting ANY sunlight. So I decided to do an experiment. I got my hoola-hoops out (the ones I used for my trellis and for hanging my shade cloth for the summer), got some mylar sheets, and made myself a tent for the GT. Remember I mentioned that I saw a 24 inch florescent grow light at Walmart at the lighting section? Well, I bought one. I hung it up inside the mylar tent (should have bought 2), hooked it up to an outlet, turned it on, and voila! I have myself a grow tent. The mylar (emergency blankets) is kind of a little transparent with the light turned on, as you can see, even with the reflective coating, so you can see the whole thing is glowing in the dark. I figure I can provide protection from the frost, and at the same time some artificial light. Is it going to work? I don’t know. But nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?
