Seattle GT2 2017

GT2 June 2016

May 2 2017

Earlier this month, I made my usual trip up to Seattle to visit my daughter and her family, and taking the opportunity to do some gardening with my grandkids.    Much to my horror, found out that they did not do anything to protect their Garden Tower over the winter.  It was not covered at all!  And they have had a few snowfalls!  I figured that all the worms are probably dead in the compost tube.  But much to my surprise, upon cleaning up the dead plants in the pockets, found some of the herbs did come back, and there were worms galore.  Not only were those little wigglers not dead, but they were thriving in the soil as well as in the compost tube!  They must have hibernated!  Anyways, my grandkids helped me cleaned up the Tower, and we went out shopping for seedlings, and also planted a few seeds directly in the pockets.  Grandma’s job is accomplished.  There’s something about kids and worms.  They like petting them.  And if the Tower will do as good as they did last year (picture showing last June’s results), that would be a great success.
